Job Description Summary:

The Office of Graduate Admissions and Student Services (OGA) at the GW School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) provides comprehensive information about SEAS graduate programs and admissions procedures to prospective domestic and international graduate students and provides professional advising services to the current SEAS graduate student body.

The Admissions Officer, Graduate Recruitment works in an office environment. Might sit for long periods of time in front of a computer. No strenuous physical activity is required. The hours can be long and varied.

This position require evening and weekend work. Some domestic and international travel and travel to different campus locations and graduate admissions events maybe required. Successful candidates need a valid driver license.

The Admission Officer, Graduate Recruitment reports directly to the Associate Director of Graduate Recruitment and Admissions.

The Admission Officer, Graduate Recruitment works to ensure all aspects of the admissions process run as smoothly as possible. Some work under the assistant director of admissions, handling communications within the admissions department, managing programs and events related to graduate admissions, handling assessment of graduate applicants for entry into the program, and assisting prospective applicants with the admissions process.

Executes domestic and international recruiting efforts and assists the Associate Director with various aspects of the day to day operations.

Key Responsibilities:

* Responsible for recruiting prospective graduate students to include domestic and international travel to graduate school fairs, campus visits and professional association conferences.

* Plans and facilitates weekly and monthly online information sessions and interactive webinars with prospective students and applicants.

* Manages and promotes on campus visits for prospective students and applicants.

* Advises prospective students throughout the entire admissions process.

* Manages daily operational functions of the admissions process as well as advise admission committee members on prospective students.

* Make suggestion to policy and procedural changes to enhance the applicant/admissions process.

* Manages the SEAS Graduate Student Ambassador program

* Performs additional assigned duties. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization, plus two years of higher education administration experience. Degree requirements may be substituted with equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

* Ability to learn and utilize proprietary educational software, exemplary written and verbal communication skills, basic math ability and excellent problem-solving skills.

* Familiarity with data management tools such as Banner, TargetX and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Google applications.

* Ability to multi-task, prioritize, manage competing priorities and assignments is preferred.

* Good people skills with the ability to help people feel at ease. Must be able to speak before large and small groups with confidence.

* The ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of a collaborative team in a highly diverse, fast paced and performance oriented environment. The selected candidate must have the ability to interact effectively with diverse populations of individuals, facilitate decision making and conflict resolution and maintain a positive and constructive demeanor.

* A valid driver's license is required.
